Dr. Giulia Dall’osto is a postdocoral researcher in the Institute of Physical Chemistry at the University of Göttingen, investigating processes mediated by light at the metal interface.
Giulia’s research focuses on developing theoretical and computational approaches to investigate light-mediated reaction processes on metal nanoparticle surfaces. Particular emphasis is placed on understanding the role of electron–electron and electron–phonon scattering, as well as plasmonic enhancement effects, in driving and influencing molecular reactions.
Her research encompasses both extended metal surfaces and nanostructured systems, combining electronic structure calculations of metal substrates and adsorbed molecules. Building on an accurate description of the electronic properties of metal substrates, a further objective is to extend these approaches towards the investigation of nonlinear optical responses in plasmonic systems.
Giulia completed her PhD at the University of Padova, where she focused on developing computational approaches to investigate various plasmon-mediated phenomena, including spectroscopic responses and photocatalytic reactions, under the supervision of Prof. Stefano Corni. She subsequently worked in the field of molecular spectroscopy, focusing on the nonlinear and chiral optical responses of molecules using time-dependent open-quantum approaches, and extending her research towards the X-ray regime.
Giulia has published 16 peer-reviewed papers and has given 5 invited talks and 5 contributed talks in international conferences.
